Our Approach
The founder of WAVE, George Hosking, is a business strategist with wide international experience in resolving challenging problems by focusing on root causes rather than symptoms, originally for Unilever and latterly in his own consultancy. Applied to the field of corporate cost structures his approach of understanding and tackling root causes has allowed profit improvements of over £35m p.a. in nearly 30 successful corporate turnarounds in several European countries.
In the mid-1990s after hearing that, despite all efforts, child abuse in the UK had not been reduced during the previous 50 years, George resolved to apply his business strategy expertise to the challenge.
George came to believe that social problems could respond to a methodology for transforming the cost and profit profiles of businesses because of the fundamental nature of the cause and effect principles involved. As part of discovering whether (and how) this method might make the transition to the social domain, he took a Diploma in Clinical Criminology, qualifying in 1998 (he had already obtained degree in Psychology as a mature student in 1983).
