We act as secretariat to the All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for Conception to Age 2 – The First 1001 Days. The APPG was established in 2013 in recognition of the fact that the interests and needs of families during the conception to age 2 period needed to be represented to as many people inside Parliament and Government as possible.
The APPG brings together expertise from across the early years sector and provides a forum where research and solutions can be shared with MPs and peers. The Parliamentarians contribute from their extensive experience and also bring in understanding of current or potential future initiatives relevant to the early years. By collaborating together, the group is able to discuss new programmes of work, issues that affect the quality of provision and the sharing of good practice with policy-makers.
The group is co-chaired by Labour MP Frank Field and Conservative MP Tim Loughton. Caroline Lucas MP (Green Party), Mark Durkan MP (SDLP), and Liberal Democrat MP Paul Burstow are vice-chairs.
You can find notes and presentations from our previous APPG meetings below. If you would like to attend the next APPG meeting please contact Tim Hutchison.
