WAVE needs your URGENT help to persuade the Government to implement key reforms in how babies are supported

"All the work I do is vital and essential. But too much of it is reactive. We are waiting for accidents to happen – it can be like watching a car crash. I no longer only want to be involved in picking up the pieces." (Deborah, secondary school safeguarding lead and 70/30 Ambassador)

For many years, WAVE has been campaigning for fundamental reform in the way we support babies. We know that if a child has supportive and loving relationships as its brain develops in its first three years of life, then the likelihood of violence, under achievement and physical and mental health issues in later life can be reduced.

WAVE is campaigning for changes that will reduce the incidence of child abuse, neglect and other adverse childhood experiences (ACE) by 70% by 2030. The UK will be brought much closer to this realistic goal if the recommendations from Andrea Leadsom MP's recent early years review are implemented in full.

In her report The best start for life: a vision for the 1001 critical days, Andrea Leadsom MP makes recommendations that would deliver seven of WAVE’s nine key priority changes.

This really is a once in a generation opportunity and WAVE is determined to work hard to persuade the Government to adopt all the recommendations, with no watering down. But that takes two things – money and commitment from people like you.

The time to apply pressure is now.  Your donation will help WAVE to fund the training of our Ambassadors as they campaign locally; will help us to work with local communities so that they understand the impact of trauma and what to do about it; will help us share best practice with professionals and will help us fund campaigns educating MPs so that they support much needed change.

Please support us to deliver effective campaigns that deliver change.  This is a once in a generation opportunity, so please donate now. Thank you

"My 70/30 journey started back in April 2020 simply by chance. Since then, I have been motivated and empowered to make a difference in my local community by sharing awareness of the 70/30 Campaign and the importance of Trauma-informed practice." (Natalie, WAVE Ambassador)
