    Early Years

    Are you looking to:

    • Strengthen the skills and knowledge of your workforce?
    • Prevent as many issues from developing as possible?
    • Understand challenging behaviour and how to respond more effectively?

    The first 3 years

The first years of a child’s life are vital for building resilience that will support a healthier life. The more positive experiences we enable during this period, and the more adverse ones we prevent, the better the nation's health will be for generations to come.

    Primary Prevention expertise

WAVE Trust are one of the UK’s foremost experts on early years prevention. We have advised the UK Cabinet Office, Home Office and Departments of Education and Health on early years policy, while our research into early years development and best available programmes has been praised by the World Health Organisation and UNICEF.

    Early Years Blueprint

Alongside other leading sector experts, we co-created a framework for best early years practice which was published alongside the Department for Education in 2013 (see here).

Case study: Parent-Child Psychological Support (PCPS)

PCPS is a clinical-based programme to support healthy growth and development of infants, with a particular focus on parent-child interactions, bonding, attachment and infant social and emotional development.

    • It monitors and supports physical and cognitive progression
    • It observes, analyses and records babies’ relationships with caregivers
    • It provides feedback about fostering healthy parent-infant relationships
    • It is a space for parents to talk about their own well-being, allowing for the referral to and provision of additional services as required

Whether you are looking to strengthen the skills and knowledge of your staff team or wherever you are exploring the future of the delivery in your area, WAVE can help. For more information:
