Trustees

WAVE Trust has an excellent and diverse Board of trustees. The Board's knowledge, experience and expertise include economics, accounts, policing, local authorities, corporate finance, adoption and fostering, training and development, marketing, communications and fundraising. The Board meet quarterly and hold an AGM every year. The Board also has a Finance Committee, a Risk & Audit Committee and a Development Committee. All committees meet between Board meetings and report to the Board with advice and recommendations for optimal management of the charity.

The charity meets all the recommendations of the Charity Commission Good Governance Code.

Dr Caroline Clark

Dr Caroline Clark is a long-serving Trustee of WAVE Trust, having previously served as Chair of Trustees.

Expand

Caroline has been an involved and valued WAVE trustee for many years. With a Degree in Mathematics and a Masters in Medieval History, Caroline completed her PhD in Medieval History whilst teaching history part-time at two eminent London universities. Deeply committed to the elimination of child abuse in both the UK and the rest of the world, Caroline finds her participation with WAVE to be a natural expression of this commitment. Another expression lies in her role as home-maker and mother to her daughter Eleanor.

Since 2003, as well as being a trustee, Caroline has served WAVE in various roles as Fundraising Officer, Council member, proofreader, and editor. She was a highly valued Chair of the Board of Trustees from 2009 to 2014. Caroline made a hugely significant contribution in 2005 by not only conducting the final edit but also by paying the full cost of the production of WAVE's report 'Violence and what to do about it', without which it is unlikely the report would have been published.

Mr Colin Sarre

Colin spent nearly 40 years as a city professional working in financial markets. He was appointed as a trustee in 2018

Expand

When he retired, Colin wanted to give something back to society. He is now non-executive Director for a multi-academy Trust, a community mediator, a mentor for University students and, most recently, he joined the WAVE Trust Board.

In this latter role, Colin is inspired by the work the charity plays in developing and implementing solutions to prevent and heal adverse childhood experiences.

Colin's own family experience had already made him aware of how the right support can make all the difference to new parents. Colin states: 'I recognise the importance of pro-active intervention in the early years. Through WAVE Trust, I hope to help other families just as we were helped'.

Abuse, neglect and other adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) often transmit from generation to generation. At least half the children in an average classroom will suffer ACEs. We must focus on prevention if we want peaceful, hardworking, healthy citizens.
