WAVE Trust are delighted to announce that Claire Coutinho MP, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Children, Families and Wellbeing, has become the latest Member of Parliament to give their support to 70/30

Claire Coutinho said ‘Ensuring that vulnerable children are protected is a top priority. Across government, we are tackling the problems that cause children to be in need or children who might be at risk of abuse or neglect. This includes investment to support local authorities to work with the most vulnerable children and their families or children. We have strengthened local safeguarding arrangements by placing a shared and equal duty on Local authorities, police, and health services to work together to safeguard children. Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility which is why I appreciate and value the work of all charities in the fight against child abuse and neglect. I would be happy to join my colleagues in support of the 70/30 campaign’.

Alex Williamson, 70/30 Campaign Officer and 70/30 Ambassador Coordinator, said ‘I am pleased to hear of the excellent work that The Government is doing and Ms Coutinho's acknowledgement that preventing the abuse and neglect of children requires the work of a multitude of stakeholders.  I would also like to extend my utmost gratitude to the Minister for giving her personal support to 70/30'.
